Join the Chamber on April 13 for an in-person opportunity to hear from those running for City Council Places 1, 3, and 5. 7pm at First Christian Church (Miller Rd & Chiesa Rd.), the forum will also air live on the City of Rowlett Facebook page.
 
Join us at City Hall, 6:30pm on Wednesday, April 19 and learn about the three facility propositions on the May 6 ballot. See a presentation, get all the details, and ask questions about the projects, which include a Public Safety Facility, Animal Shelter, and Herfurth Park.
 
Wondering about the facilities included in the May 6, 2023, Bond Election? Join us on Saturday, April 22 for a behind-the-scenes tour of the current Police and Municipal Courts building and the Rowlett Animal Shelter.

Mayor’s Spotlight - May 2023 Facilities Bond Election

Residents of Rowlett are asked to go to the polls on Saturday, May 6 to consider authorizing the issuance of general obligation bonds in the amount of $76.3 million for three facility bond propositions. Each of these projects was carefully considered and proposed by the Council-appointed Community Investment Program Task Force, and the City Council voted unanimously to place these propositions on the ballot for citizens’ consideration.
Election day is Saturday, May 6
Early Voting is April 24 - May 2

PROP A: Public Safety Facilities - $63,928,980 72,806 square feet to house Police, Fire Administration, Detention Center (jail), and Municipal Court.
PROP B: Animal Shelter - $8,400,000 9,296 square feet. The proposed facility will be planned to manage phased growth and plan for build out.
PROP C: Herfurth Park - $4,000,000 Design and construct Phase 2 and 3 of the Herfurth Park renovations.

Saturday, April 1 is going to be an eggciting day! 
Our 2023 Easter Eggstravaganza and Pup-a-palooza is right around the corner!
We will start the day with our Easter Eggstravaganza from 10:00am-12:00pm at Pecan Grove Park (5300 Main St.) where thousands of eggs will be scattered, ready for your little ones to collect.
 
Then we will head over to our Pup-a-Palooza event where dogs can hunt for their own eggs at our Scentral Bark dog park (4601 Centennial Dr).

Our Adult Cornhole Spring League is back and better than ever! Join us Thursday nights at Downtown Rowlett for some fun in the sun. Registration ends April 3rd and league play begins April 13th!

-Miller Road Project Update: The westbound lane of Miller Road will be closed between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m on weekdays and he contractor has also been given permission to resume work in the evenings, after 6:30 p.m., and on Saturdays. More info here:https://bit.ly/3Ze72Un 
- The Rowlett Nature Trail on Miller road closed this week for some much-needed repairs. We will keep everyone updated on the timeline for reopening the trail. 
- And finally- the weight room at the RCC is still closed for flooring renovations. We are expected to reopen our weight room on March 9th.
